Matt is a former professional rugby player with a distinguished leadership background, most notably as co-captain of the New Zealand Super Rugby team, the Chiefs. He concluded his playing career with English side Harlequins, where he played a pivotal role in their historic 2021 Premiership Final triumph before retiring in 2022. Matt was part of the senior leadership group of every rugby team he played for.

Following his transition from professional sport, Matt began his corporate career as a Consultant at EY, later joining global real estate advisory firm JLL. During this period, he also completed an MBA at the University of Cambridge. His influential research titled "High Performance Corporate Athletes" became the catalyst for launching Malvern Street.

As Founding Partner at Malvern Street, Matt is instrumental in client delivery, facilitating performance sessions and fostering alignment and cohesion across teams. He is widely respected for his discreet, empathetic, and highly effective approach to working with senior leaders, serving as a trusted advisor and sounding board.

Matt is also a passionate advocate for mental health. He serves as an Ambassador for Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM), a leading suicide-prevention charity. An accomplished speaker, he is frequently invited to share his insights with leading organisations and serves as a guest lecturer at the University of Cambridge. In addition, he holds a Board Advisory position with Harlequins Rugby Club.

Melanie is the Operating Partner at Malvern Street, leading the firm’s performance team and overseeing the development and delivery of its executive performance programmes. Her work focuses on helping senior leaders and organisations sustain high performance in demanding environments.

A neuroscientist and nutritionist by background, Melanie specialises in the science of cognition, energy, and behaviour under pressure. She studied Sport Science at undergraduate level before completing an MSc in Neuroscience, and later qualified as both a Registered Nutritionist (RNutr) and a Registered Nutritional Therapist (BANT).

Melanie works with senior leaders, C-suite executives, and high-performing professionals to optimise the foundations of performance, including cognitive capacity, decision-making, resilience, and sustained energy. Her approach integrates data insights, behavioural science, and practical performance strategies to help leaders operate consistently at their best.

A former England hockey player, Melanie brings an elite sport mindset to her work. She believes that the most effective leaders, like elite athletes, achieve their best results when supported by expert teams, structured preparation, and evidence-based performance strategies.

Duncan is an experienced Chair with decades of board and C-suite leadership, supporting CEOs and senior executives through periods of growth, complexity and transformation. He served as Chief Financial Officer of Ocado Group plc from 2012 to 2020, playing a central role in its evolution into a leading international technology business, and continues to advise the company at a senior level.

Earlier in his career, Duncan held CFO and Group Finance Director roles at major international organisations including Kingfisher plc, Fitness First, Virgin Entertainment Group and B&Q. He brings extensive board experience across high-growth and listed businesses, and currently serves as Chair of Oxford Nanopore Technologies plc and Chair of Loveholidays, alongside a board role at Trainline.

Duncan holds a Master’s degree in Engineering from King’s College, Cambridge. He works with Malvern Street clients to help advise on the complexities of leadership at scale, investor and board dynamics, and the personal demands of senior executive roles.

Lorraine is a work strategy expert, and a Henley-accredited executive coach with deep expertise in leadership communication, delegation, and performance under pressure.

Her first career was in financial services, working at major US and UK Investment Banks from 1996 to 2023. She spent the latter half of her career as a Managing Director, leading large teams in high-pressure, client-facing Investment Banking and Risk Management roles, where clear communication and strategic delegation were critical to success.

Lorraine has firsthand experience navigating the intense demands of a corporate career. She understands how poor communication, unclear expectations, and ineffective delegation can drive stress and burnout at senior levels. Now, she coaches former colleagues and top-tier executives facing similar pressures, helping them build practical leadership habits that improve clarity, reduce overload, and enable teams to perform at their best.

Lorraine has a BA and an MSc in Economics from the University of Durham, and is a qualified yoga instructor. She is married with grown up step-children and grandchildren.

Sophie studied medicine at Nottingham University, followed by an MSc in Entrepreneurship. After several years in consulting, she completed a PhD in Health Psychology at University College London (UCL), investigating why happiness protects against heart disease, and how to improve performance at work.

Sophie's research pointed to sleep as an unsung hero of mental and physical resilience. She has published research in collaboration with the Sleep and Circadian Neuroscience Institute in Oxford, and international researchers, demonstrating the impact of better sleep on cognition and performance.

Sophie became a passionate advocate for the importance of sleep, and evidence-based therapy, and was awarded an NHS Innovation Accelerator Fellowship in 2016. Sophie has been invited to deliver talks for Tedx and Talks@Google, and regularly features as a sleep expert in national media.

Angus holds a First-Class Master’s degree in Engineering from Imperial College London, graduating top of his class. He went on to pursue a PhD at the University of Cambridge, specialising in machine learning with a particular focus on quantifying uncertainty within complex engineering datasets.

At Malvern Street, Angus leads our data collection and analysis initiatives, leveraging cutting-edge wearable technology and advanced performance metrics to monitor and drive continuous improvement. As wearable technologies become increasingly precise and sophisticated, he ensures Malvern Street remains at the forefront of physiological insight and data-driven strategy, delivering value through both existing systems and the development of proprietary platforms.

Beyond his academic and professional achievements, Angus brings the same discipline and competitive spirit to sport. He now channels his energy into Jujitsu and MMA, dedicating much of his free time to mastering these physically and mentally demanding disciplines.

Laura is an Executive Partner at Malvern Street, specialising in physiological recovery, energy optimisation, and sustainable leadership performance. She works with senior leaders operating under sustained pressure, helping them manage their energy and time more effectively so they can perform at a high level, consistently and over the long term.

Her approach is grounded in the belief that performance is built on strong physiological foundations. She focuses on practical, evidence-based interventions that support recovery, resilience, and sustained output in demanding environments.

Laura’s interest in performance began at Cambridge University, where she was diagnosed with PCOS. The experience disrupted her ability to compete as an England long jumper, prompting a deep exploration into the factors that underpin energy, recovery, and performance under pressure. This ultimately shaped her direction into performance optimisation.

Before joining Malvern Street, Laura worked in Investment Banking at J.P. Morgan and Strategy Consulting at BCG. This experience gives her a clear understanding of the realities senior leaders face - long hours, high stakes, and competing demands - and informs her pragmatic, results-driven approach. She partners with clients to embed sustainable ways of working that improve energy, sharpen focus, and enable high performance over time.

Ben is a leading executive stress resilience coach, trusted by high performers worldwide to build resilience, optimise performance under pressure, and regulate their nervous systems.

After an early career as a surveyor in London, Ben transitioned into the corporate performance space, where he has spent over a decade developing a best-in-class methodology. His unique approach integrates performance and recovery protocols, enabling senior leaders to consistently deliver when it matters most.

He works internationally with founders, CEOs, and global brands, including the Four Seasons Hotel Group, who rely on his expertise to sustain peak performance without burning out. Ben’s insights have been featured by Sky News, GQ, and Men’s Health. He is also a sought-after speaker on resilience and corporate burnout, regularly addressing audiences at leading international organisations.

Catherine (Cat) is a former professional hockey player who represented the U.S. Women’s National Hockey Team. After multiple ACL injuries ended her athletic career ahead of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, she transitioned into the field of nutrition, with a strong focus on women’s health and performance.

She holds a BA in Biology from Princeton University, an MSc in Nutrition from King’s College London, and a Diploma in Sports Nutrition from the International Olympic Committee. A UK Registered Nutritionist (ANutr), Cat is currently pursuing a PhD focused on developing a preconception health and lifestyle toolkit to support women preparing for pregnancy, demonstrating her commitment to translating science into meaningful, measurable outcomes.

Cat’s research has already shaped national policy and informed care guidelines for both female athletes and corporate executives. Drawing on her experience in elite performance environments, she brings a personalised, team-driven approach to her consultancy work at Malvern Street, helping the firm set new benchmarks and establish itself as a thought leader in executive performance.

Lennox brings a truly remarkable combination of competing at the highest level of professional sport while serving as a consultant at Malvern Street.

After finishing school, he signed a professional contract with Harlequins, where he quickly became a key member of the first team squad. Driven by ambition and resilience, Lennox has since joined Montpellier Hérault (the 2022 Top 14 champions) for the 2025/26 season, competing in what is widely regarded as the toughest rugby union league in the world.

Alongside his sporting achievements, Lennox earned a first-class BSc in Economics from the University of Surrey, exemplifying his ability to thrive under pressure and balance the demands of elite sport with academic excellence. This same discipline underpins his work at Malvern Street.
